Export requirements vary depending on the country you are visiting. Some certificates take longer to prepare for than others, and some require multiple visits for timed blood testing. The paperwork required may also depend on whether you are travelling on your own or using a pet courier service. Please choose from the following options to see what you are likely to require:

Travel within the E.U. and Associated Countries
As of 1 January 2021, the old style Pet Passports became invalid for travel. Although E.U. issued passports can be used to enter the U.K., they can only be used to enter the E.U. until the Rabies entry has expired. These may no longer be updated by a U.K. vet, so if the Rabies entry is out of date, an Animal Health Certificate will be needed. Some countries now require certified worming prior to leaving the U.K. (Northern Ireland, Malta, Finland and Republic of Ireland). Most still require it before re-entry on the way home. The new paperwork is significantly more long winded than a passport, please allow plenty of time. They need to be signed within 10 days of travel, but a lot of preparation can be done before that. All animals travelling to the E.U. must have had a rabies injection at least 3 weeks before travel. Please click here to see the full requirements.

These countries have notoriously tight border controls. The preparation requires many months and will require multiple blood tests and a strict parasite control protocol. T It is strongly recommended that a pet courier company is engaged to handle the flights and arrangements on the other end for you. These companies work with the certifying vet (myself), and between us we can ensure everything is in place for your big move. I am qualified to perform OV66 ID checks and can talk you through this process to reduce quarantine time. Please click here (Australia) or here (New Zealand) to get a better idea of the requirements.

This is another country requiring blood testing and strictly timed visits to complete the paperwork. Personally, I think it is all worth it, what a lovely country to go home to! Please click here for further details of the requirements.

Travel to United States of America
This remains a relatively easy process! You will need a Fit to Fly certificate, but no blood testing. Some states require Rabies vaccination prior to travel, some require it within a set time after arrival and some states have no requirements. Please check with the authorities where you will be landing to confirm, as these requirements do change. If in doubt, many clients choose to vaccinate in the U.K. to save a task once they land.

Travel elsewhere
Each country has its own set of requirements and time frames to complete paperwork. Export paperwork needs to be applied for by an owner through APHA, and the embassy or consulate of the country you are travelling to must be contacted, as some countries require import certificates. Please contact me directly with your planned destination and I will let you know what you need.
